Site Installation Framework
-
Overview
This Site Installation Framework defines the standard workflow, key responsibilities, and expected quality standards for residential solar installations under the WE Share initiative. It is intended to guide consistency, safety, and values-based practice across all participating installation teams.
-
Site Preparation & Engagement
2.1 Pre-Install Coordination
- Confirm schedule and access arrangements with the homeowner.
- Confirm that all site planning and documentation requirements are complete and ready.
- Make sure the homeowner understands the system overview and what to expect during installation.
2.2 On-Site Readiness
- Finalise safety planning, including personal protective equipment and site-specific risk review.
- Confirm all regulatory approvals or notifications are in place before work begins.
- Confirm owner-agreed access to all required areas (e.g. roof, switchboard, and other electrical spaces).
- Identify any on-site hazards and document them clearly as part of the team’s safety process.
-
Installation Protocol
3.1 Structural and Mounting
- Verify the structural readiness of the site in line with documented plans or project guidance.
- Apply sound weatherproofing and secure mounting practices that align with industry best standards.
3.2 Electrical Integration
- Carry out all electrical works in compliance with New Zealand’s applicable standards and regulatory codes.
- Implement safe installation techniques, with clear labelling and protection as appropriate.
3.3 System Commissioning
- Check the system operates as expected and is configured in accordance with project requirements.
- Complete any relevant setup programming and confirm system connectivity.
- Record key system identifiers and prepare submission to the WE Share platform.
-
Handover & Reporting
4.1 General Handover Expectations
- Complete final handover in a way that supports clarity, transparency, and homeowner understanding.
- Provide the necessary documentation, as appropriate, to demonstrate compliance and system readiness.
4.2 Submitting Documentation
- Submit a digital copy of the full handover package and any project-specific forms required for integration to WE Share.
- Where applicable, communicate any issues, deviations, or points of clarification to the WE Share Lead.
-
Installer Conduct
- Maintain a professional presence at all times, including appropriate dress and identification.
- Engage with householders and others on-site in a respectful, values-led manner.
- Discuss and seek consent for any variations from the agreed installation plan.
-
Health & Safety Requirements
WE Share expects all installation teams to uphold the highest standards of health and safety throughout the installation process. Installers must:
- Conduct a site-specific risk assessment prior to starting work, including identification of electrical and working-at-height hazards.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all team members are briefed on safety procedures.
- Follow relevant New Zealand safety regulations and guidelines, including Worksafe NZ requirements.
- Clearly mark and isolate live electrical components and hazardous areas during installation.
- Immediately report any incidents, near-misses, or injuries to the WE Share Lead, and document as required.
- Ensure tools, ladders, and equipment are suitable, regularly maintained, and safely operated.
Safety is a shared responsibility. All team members are expected to speak up if they observe unsafe conditions or behaviours.
-
Exceptions & Escalations
In the event of significant site issues or plan deviations, pause work and contact the Contracted Supplier before proceeding. All exceptions to expected process must be clearly recorded and approved.
