Preamble

We share projects. We share guiding principles.

The WeShare initiative exists to support the Waiheke Island community by co-creating a resilient, holistic, and community-owned infrastructure that centers on energy sovereignty, financial wellbeing, environmental stewardship, and shared governance. This Charter and Guiding Principles document replaces all previous drafts and integrates the foundational intentions, aspirations, and protections required to deliver this vision with integrity, transparency, and care.

SECTION 1: PURPOSE AND INTENT

This Charter and Guiding Principles set forth the shared commitments, foundational agreements, values, and vision for WeShare. Our initiative is built on trust, community empowerment, sustainability, and respect for natural systems. We support diverse voices, healthy debate, and a continuous evolution of structure and strategy based on lived experience and emergent needs.

WeShare is committed to:

– Building a community-owned, financially sustainable energy infrastructure.

– Supporting broader circular economy initiatives including housing, food systems, transport, and communications.

– Grounding all decision-making in shared values, consent-based governance, and full transparency.
