Community Outreach Coordinator
PURPOSE
The Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator helps build trust, visibility, and meaningful connections with the local communities WE Share aims to serve.
They ensure that engagement is inclusive, grounded in local realities, and aligned with WE Share’s values and kaupapa. This role supports momentum, outreach strategy, and coordination of community-facing opportunities.
This is one of the most strategically important roles in the early stage of WE Share. The success of the pilot and future expansion depends on building authentic, lasting trust with our communities.
WE Share recognises that without genuine, values-aligned engagement grounded in respect for community and cultural context, the integrity and longevity of the project are at risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively build relationships with community groups, residents, local champions, and aligned organizations
- Help identify and coordinate outreach events, listening sessions, or informal gatherings
- Represent WE Share’s intent and values in clear, accessible language
- Support Community Hosts with outreach materials and connection strategy
- Gather feedback and community sentiment and relay it back into the Governance and Communications teams
- Support enrollment of new participants and help connect them to relevant facilitators
- Champion equity, cultural integrity, and accessibility in all community engagement efforts

- Confident and empathetic communicator, able to speak with diverse audiences
- Grounded in community-led principles and tikanga-appropriate engagement
- Organised, responsive, and capable of working independently in outreach contexts
- Able to translate complex ideas into accessible language
- Committed to listening and building long-term trust, not transactional interactions
STRUCTURE & SUPPORT
- Works alongside Community Hosts, Communications, and Governance teams
- Participates in outreach planning sessions and community reporting cycles
- Provided with flyers, talking points, and other engagement resources
- Encouraged to co-create new forms of engagement based on lived realities
