PURPOSE

The Communications Facilitator ensures that WE Share’s internal and external messaging is clear, coherent, and consistent with kaupapa. This role helps weave together updates, stories, partner communications, and public materials — supporting connection and clarity across the initiative.

They do not “control the message,” but rather coordinate across roles to support transparency, tone, and accessibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports communication around WE Share governance and engagement meetings — including notice distribution, clarity of purpose, and summary updates — in collaboration with Governance, Meeting, and Community Host roles
  • Help ensure alignment of messaging across public channels (website, newsletters, social media, press)
  • Support internal communication between roles and working groups
  • Assist in preparing key announcements or public-facing content
  • Collaborate with WE Share Spokespersons and Website/Social Media Facilitators
  • Help maintain tone, clarity, and protocol alignment in shared documents
  • Gather updates from working groups and package for community distribution

ATTRIBUTES & COMPETENCIES

  • Skilled communicator with strong listening and synthesis abilities
  • Comfortable working across teams and bridging technical or governance language for public audiences
  • Able to work collaboratively and without ego
  • Familiarity with inclusive, consent-based, and kaupapa-aligned language
  • Writing, editing, or coordination experience is useful but not required

STRUCTURE & SUPPORT

  • Works closely with Spokesperson, Website, and Community Host teams
  • Liaises with Governance Circle to clarify key messages and timing
  • Supported by shared content templates and onboarding packs
  • Participates in communications planning and monthly coordination sessions
