How We Propose to Build the WE Share Blueprint
Purpose of This Guide
This document outlines the step-by-step process for how the WE Share Blueprint will be collaboratively developed. It serves as a roadmap for contributors, collaborators, and community partners who wish to help shape this living body of knowledge in alignment with the WE Share Charter and IP Framework.
It is intended to reduce ambiguity, ensure alignment, and maintain integrity while allowing distributed and diverse input into the Blueprint’s formation.
-
Blueprint Development Principles
- Values-First: All contributions must uphold the WE Share core values.
- Iterative: The Blueprint will evolve over time, with multiple provisional and draft versions.
- Community-Centered: Contributions must prioritise local benefit and collaborative development.
- Custodianship Over Control: Content is stewarded, not owned, with transparent version management.
-
Who Can Contribute
- Internal WE Share contributors

- Aligned partner organisations
- Community practitioners in related projects
All contributors must:
- Review and align with the WE Share Charter and IP & Sharing Framework
- Agree to open-source, non-commercial principles
- Use shared formats for ease of integration

Versioning and Change Management
- Each draft or component will be tagged with:
- Version number (e.g. v0.1, v1.0)
- Status: In Review, Draft in Use, Under Consultation, etc.
- Date of last update
- Approved changes will be published to a central source-of-truth location
- Older versions will be archived and accessible
-
Review and Approval
A values-aligned custodianship group will:
- Review contributions for fit, tone, and consistency
- Recommend edits or refinements
- Approve versions for formal inclusion
This process is lightweight but principled. Speed is welcome; sloppiness is not.
-
Collaboration Etiquette
- Honour all contributors through attribution
- Focus on alignment and clarity over ego or authorship
- Engage in respectful dialogue when reviewing others’ inputs
- Always centre the benefit to communities over technical perfection
-
What Comes Next
Once core sections are populated:
- Testing will occur in live WE Share-aligned projects
- Feedback loops will refine and adapt content
- Companion resources will be released alongside key modules (e.g. templates, walkthroughs)
The Blueprint is not a static document. It is a process of shared meaning-making.
Thank you for helping build this resource with care, clarity, and community in mind.
Note: This guidance is a working foundation. As contributions increase and the process matures, future versions may include more detailed instructions on submission methods, review roles, timelines, and platform tools. These refinements will be developed collaboratively and transparently.
