WE Share Governance Summary
WE Share is much more than a simple solar program — it is an evolving community-led initiative aiming to reshape how energy systems are designed, owned, and shared — not only in terms of technology and infrastructure, but also through governance, access, and long-term community benefit. The Governance Page is where we make visible the frameworks, intentions, and open pathways for decision-making that guide the WE Share project.
At this stage of our development, governance is still a work-in-progress. Much of the foundational structure — documents, systems, site frameworks, protocols, community tools — has been shaped by the energy, time, and vision of the founder and a small number of committed collaborators. This has been essential groundwork — but it is not the final form.
We acknowledge that broad community participation is not yet in place. This is not because it is unimportant — it’s because it takes time, trust, and real results to build momentum and shared ownership.
This Governance page is a first step in:
- Being transparent about where we are now,
- Making clear how decisions have been made so far,
- Signalling how power, input, and responsibility will evolve,
- Inviting others into the conversation — respectfully, openly, and honestly.
We do not present governance as a finished model. Instead, we present it as a space in motion — one grounded in values, and open to co-creation as the project matures.
The current governance documents — including the Charter, Constitution, IP and Licensing policy, and the consent-based decision-making framework — form the foundational structure for how WE Share operates with integrity, equity, and accountability. These documents have been established with care to protect the core values of the project and are currently in effect. While these foundations are open to review as the community’s role deepens, they are not subject to ad hoc revision and remain the guiding reference for all decision-making at this stage.
In this section, you’ll find:

- Constitution (currently in effect) [link]
- Consent-based decision-making model in practice (currently in effect) [link]

As always, we welcome scrutiny, engagement, and constructive challenge. This project will only succeed when the community is ready to shape it, own it, and lead it — together.
